Pope Kiko Was Here!
Manila, Philippines—Just over a week ago, the Pope of the People was here. He brought so much smile and good vibes to a very striving nation. Pope Francis is third among Vatican Heads of State, who visited this country of 80% Catholics, largest in the Southeast Asia region. His visit to the Philippines was hastened and triggered because of the disaster that stuck the province of Leyte in the Visayas part of island country. Though he was sent invitations by the Philippine government and the Catholic Church, it was because of the disastrous result of Typhoon Yolanda that the Pontiff decided to proceed to the calamity-stricken people of Leyte in the earliest possible time allowed on his travel schedule. This Head of the Roman Catholic Church proved that his purpose must be made even amidst a second-grade typhoon spooning over the Leyte region on the day of his visit. It can be attributed that he was not able to eat lunch with family of the victims and instead proceeded to other destined locations in his schedule. The hours, supposedly, to be spent on each of the places became few minutes and he was almost unable to go down his Pope Mobile but continued to raise his hand to bless and pray over places and people in Leyte. All these happening under heavy rains and strong winds, the real might of a 75-year man indeed. Never did see him sit down the chair on his Pope Mobile while going around the places, assumingly, with an empty stomach, wow mighty Lord, you indeed sent your Holy Spirit to be with this gracious, ever-smiling old man. He was indeed a symbol of Your Holiness.
